Isotopes AI, a new startup founded by big data veterans, has officially come out of stealth mode with a $20 million seed round. The company aims to solve one of the most persistent problems in enterprise data analytics: bridging the gap between those who manage big data systems and the decision-makers who need insights from them.

The Big Data Problem Isotopes AI Wants to Solve

For decades, businesses have struggled with a disconnect: engineers build and maintain large-scale data infrastructure, but executives and managers—the ones asking questions—rarely have direct access to this data. Traditional analytics platforms require technical know-how, leading to delays and missed opportunities.

Isotopes AI’s agent, named Aidnn, uses large language models (LLMs) to fix this problem. It enables business managers to query data in plain English and receive actionable answers, no matter whether the data lives in ERP systems, Salesforce, finance apps, CRMs, or cloud storage platforms.

A Founding Team with Deep Big Data Roots

What sets Isotopes AI apart from countless other AI analytics startups is the pedigree of its co-founders.

  • Arun Murthy (CEO): Previously co-founded Hortonworks, a spinoff from Yahoo that helped bring Hadoop into the mainstream, triggering the big data boom of the 2010s. Hortonworks went public before later merging with Cloudera.

  • Prasanth Jayachandran: Longtime colleague from Hortonworks and co-founder of Isotopes.

  • Gopal Vijayaraghavan: Another Hortonworks alumni who joined the founding team.

Murthy also served as CTO at Scale AI, gaining first-hand experience in building and optimizing large AI models, something he compares to earning a “PhD” in the field.

Aidnn: More Than Just a Chatbot

Unlike basic data chatbots, Aidnn performs complex multi-step reasoning to generate insights. For example, when drafting a monthly revenue report, it can:

  • Extract and clean metadata

  • Join datasets across multiple sources

  • Normalize and prorate financial records

  • Aggregate results for actionable insights

The agent shows its step-by-step reasoning, highlights data anomalies, and even offers recommendations. Importantly, Isotopes promises enterprise customers complete data privacy, as the system runs without sending sensitive information back to the underlying AI providers.

Market Competition Is Heating Up

While Aidnn is a powerful tool, the competition in AI-powered business analytics is fierce. Giants like Salesforce’s Tableau are integrating agents into their ecosystems, and newer players like WisdomAI are also innovating with fresh approaches to avoid hallucinations and improve reliability.

Still, with 10 patents already filed and a founding team that spearheaded the big data revolution once before, Isotopes AI is positioning itself as a category leader in intelligent data agents.

The Future of Data-Driven Decision Making

Aidnn represents the next step in enterprise analytics—moving from dashboards and SQL queries to truly conversational, context-aware agents. If Isotopes AI lives up to its promise, it could change how businesses access and act on their data, saving time, reducing dependency on engineering teams, and enabling faster, smarter decisions.
